Biography.
Born and raised in his home city of Birmingham,
England Delano took up the guitar in the 70's
even though his first musical desires were towards
playing the bass. Since the late 70's he has
played in numerous bands on both guitar and bass
covering styles from Jazz, Blues, Rock, Calypso
and Reggae.
It was whilst working in a jazz big band with
saxophonist James Renford that the got the opportunity
to play guitar for Pato Banton
and the Reggae Revolution on two tours in the
USA.
The first was in Florida and
the second covered most of the West Coast
of America through California, Seattle, Oregon,
New Mexico, Arizona, San Diego, Canada, Hawaii
and culminated in a couple of shows where the
band opened for Santana in the Bullring, Tijuana
Mexico in March of that year.
"This was a real buzz for me meeting Carlos
Santana because he is one of my all time favourite
guitarists and I learnt a great deal by listening
to and picking out the parts on the
Moonflower Album. That album is virtually worn
out....
Touring
was wonderful and an enlightening experience
and the memories I will treasure for a lifetime.
Who would have thought that my first professional
tour would be out of the UK." Through touring
I have met many good and interesting people
some of whom have now become personal friends.
We now keep in touch via email and phone calls.
I
have appeared as guitarist on the CD by the
award winning Steel Pan Jazz musician Jamma.
He recorded the album "Barcelona/Pan in Flight
in 1996". It is still available from Jamma direct
from his web site as are other cd's he has produced.
I also played guitar on the latest CD release
by the Reggae Revolution Band called Ghetto Cry.
Currently I am in writing material
for my own CD Album which will be my outlet for
expressing my own music and bringing out some
of the sounds I have absorbed during my musical
life.
